Multidisciplinary Approach

The multidisciplinary team consists of CINN’s neurosurgeons working in concert with specialists from Rush University Medical Center, including neurologists, interventional neuroradiologists, cardiologists, nursing and neurological rehabilitation.

	Neurosurgeons - Physicians specialized in the surgical treatment of diseases of the nervous system.
	Endovascular neurosurgeon – A neurosurgeon fellowship-trained in endovascular techniques. Dr. Demetrius Lopes is the most experienced endovascular neurosurgeon in the Chicagoland area.
	Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiologist / Interventional Neuroradiologist – A radiologist subspecialized in interventional procedures. Dr. Thomas J. Grobelny is highly experienced in treating the full range of neurovascular procedures and is one of the most experienced in using the Merci Clost retrieval device for acute stroke.
	Cardiologists – Unique to the CINN Stroke Program is a close collaboration with the Department of Cardiology at Rush University Medical Center. Many patients suffering from coronary artery disease also display symptoms or suffer from carotid artery disease.
	Neurologists - Physicians specialized in the diagnosis and medical management of diseases of the nervous system.
