Welcome to the website for the Chicago Institute
of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch (CINN) Neurovascular
and Stroke Intervention Program. We hope that
the information presented on this website will
provide you valuable information in better understanding
the uniqueness of our team and the services we
offer.
CINNs Neurovascular and Stroke Intervention
Program offers innovative approaches to the treatment
of cerebrovascular disorders either by navigating
the bodys blood vessels with a catheter;
through open surgical techniques; with the use
of stereotactic radiosurgery, or a combination
thereof. Since CINN has significant expertise
in both surgical and endovascular procedures,
patients seeking care at CINN can be assured they
will receive the most appropriate treatment given
their specific facts and circumstances.
The CINN Neurovascular and Stroke Intervention
Program specializes in the treatment of patients
suffering from vascular diseases such as, aneurysms,
arteriovenous malformations (AVM), carotid cavernous
fistula, carotid stenosis, cerebrovascular ischemia
(stroke), and vasospasm. Our program brings together
the expertise of three leading physician specialists,
including a fellowship-trained endovascular neurosurgeon,
an endovascular surgical neuroradiologist and
a cerebrovascular-trained neursurgeon. Technologies
used by this physician team include:
 |
new stents
designed specifically for the brain |
 |
coils
that are coated with biologically active material
designed to create scar and connective tissue
within the aneurysm to enhance the healing
process |
 |
carotid stenting with
distal protection devices |
 |
hydrocoils that allow
increased packing of cerebral aneurysms |
 |
clot retrieval devices
for the management of acute strokes |
 |
Software that allows
for the visualization and quantification of
blood flow in the head and neck completely
non-invasively |
 |
New embolic agents
for the embolization of AVMs |
 |
Gamma Knife radiosurgery
for AVMs |
CINNs Neurovascular and Stroke Intervention
Program participates in many clinical research
studies and is always at the leading-edge of new
procedures and treatments.
