Speech-Language Evaluation

During this evaluation, a speech-language pathologist will assess your speaking, language, and thinking skills, analyze the clarity of your speech and voice, and determine if you have any swallowing difficulties.

How to Prepare

Please arrive for this outpatient procedure at the time and location given to you.

This evaluation requires no special preparation. You may eat and drink as usual and remain active right up until the time of your appointment.

What to Expect

The therapist may ask you to listen to and remember a short story, write a short story, read a paragraph, perform some basic math calculations, and name items from a simple category. The therapist will also examine the muscles of your mouth and face.

This evaluation will take approximately 30 minutes. You may resume your normal activities immediately.
